Stevenson Square

Bang in the midst of the N4, it makes sense that Stevenson Square has become the centre of the creative, cultural part of the city.
Surrounding the square are many underground spaces, some of which used to be clubs and bars. Soup is still going in one of these subterranean coves, offering hot, sweaty gigs and club nights.

Eastern Bloc Records has relocated from its Oldham St. location to Stevenson Square - check out if they're having one of their late night in-store DJ parties.

Mooch-wise we highlight the much-missed The Roadhouse on Newton St., a stone's throw away, and just along Back Piccadilly from there to Oldham St., Fat City Records.

One of Manchester's oldest and most popular venues, Band on the Wall sits on the outskirts of the N4. The BotW is more than a venue for great concerts, it's almost like a community centre. Check out the fantastic history videos displayed on the exterior of the building to learn about the area's rich, grubby, and sometimes dark history. (The video was overseen by Malcolm Garrett, Manchester designer extraordinaire who designed, amongst others, Buzzcocks and Simple Minds record sleeves and the 80s classic, 'Rio' sleeve by Duran Duran.)
