How?

Made possible by funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Manchester Music Mooch was crafted by MediaCityUK based Dig Media, refined by award-winning app developers ArcadeXR, and brought to life by its plentiful contributions from musical talents across all walks of life.

Since 1994, The National Lottery Heritage Fund has invested £8.8 billion into over 51,000 heritage projects across the UK. In Manchester, we’re building on that legacy by exploring, celebrating, and preserving the city’s rich musical heritage. Manchester Music Mooch partners with cultural organisations and local stakeholders to spotlight untold stories, champion emerging talent, and create pathways into media and music careers for students and early-stage professionals shaping the future of Manchester’s sound.

Why?

Musical heritage matters because it reminds us where our culture comes from, fuels future creativity, and keeps the city’s spirit alive. Despite its global recognition, Manchester’s musical landmarks and stories aren’t always protected. Venues close, scenes shift, and memories fade. That’s why Manchester Music Mooch exists to make sure those influences aren’t lost. Our mission is for everyone to explore, learn from, and feel the impact of Manchester’s music past and present.
