Explore freely and let Manchester’s music legacy guide you...
There’s no fixed beginning or final stop on the Manchester Music Mooch trail, so you choose your route, your pace, and your soundtrack. Whether you'd like to spend a whole day tracing the city’s most iconic music stories, or can only spare ten minutes to dip in on your lunch break, the experience is designed to fit around you.
From the legendary Tony Wilson Place area, including the former Haçienda site and Band on the Wall, to the buzzing energy of the Northern Quarter, most stops are only minutes apart, making it easy to wander between Manchester’s musical touchstones.
The only location slightly beyond the central cluster is the Oxford Road Corridor - home to venues, gig spaces, and student culture that continue shaping Manchester’s sound. But getting there couldn’t be easier: regular buses run the length of Oxford Road, meaning this part of the trail stays well-connected.
And the story is still growing. Adding even more layers to Manchester’s musical map, more locations are coming soon to Manchester Music Mooch.
To make the most of the Manchester Music Mooch trail, we recommend walking, cycling, or hopping on public transport. Navigating the city on foot or bike keeps you immersed in its streets, scenes, and history, and ensures that pedestrianised areas won’t limit your journey.
