Mooch Loops Studio

Mooch Loops Studio
Get creative with Mooch Loops studio, an integrated music studio which allows you to build your own tune, whilst on the mooch.

The studio includes a library of 22 pre-recorded music loops, so you can easily create and share your own piece of Manchester music by simply selecting and mixing loops, on the fly. Hit 'record' and the app records your tune, ready for you to share with your mates.

Each loop has been made by local music artists. Some are established such as Andy and Jez Williams from the band Doves and techno artist JS Zeiter, whilst some are emerging artists from music production courses at University of Salford and The Manchester College.

Your loops must be collected!
When you first open the studio you will see two loops in your library. You can play and mix these loops to practice using the studio. You must collect the remaining 20 loops by visiting the locations within the trail: 1 location = 1 loop.

Heritage Loops
A number of the loops are created from historic recordings. These include processed archive recordings of performances at the Royal Northern College of Music. Other loops include the original musical notes made by Alan Turing's computer in 1952.

There are also loops by Mercury Music Award-nominated artist, Jon Coley, who has recorded a special version of the Manchester broadside ballad, 'The Wandering Bird'.
