Mooch Loops Studio

Get creative with Mooch Loops Studio...

Mooch Loops Studio is integrated into Manchester Music Mooch, allowing you to build your own tune, whilst on the mooch.

With 22 exclusive audio loops, you can build a beat on the fly - no equipment, no experience, just your curiosity. Tap, blend, remix, then hit record to capture your masterpiece. When you’re happy, share it with friends and become part of Manchester’s ever-growing soundscape.

A city that makes music through you! These loops aren’t just sounds. Each one has been crafted by Manchester’s own musicians: from big names like Andy and Jez Williams of Doves and techno producer JS Zeiter, to emerging talent from the University of Salford and The Manchester College. It’s your chance to collaborate with the city’s past, present, and future creative voices.

Unlock loops as you mooch. Your journey starts with two loops already in your library so you can play, practice, and get to grips with the studio. The remaining twenty? They’re out there waiting.

Every location you visit on the trail unlocks a new sound: 1 stop = 1 loop.

Explore the story, collect the audio, and watch your studio grow.

Heritage you can hear

Some loops are more than music, they’re living history. You’ll discover sound fragments transformed from archival performances at the Royal Northern College of Music, as well as the earliest computer-generated notes ever made, composed by Alan Turing’s machine in 1952.

You’ll also unlock fresh takes on heritage songs, including a special recording by Mercury Prize-nominated artist Jon Coley, reimagining the Manchester broadside ballad The Wandering Bird.

Mooch Loops isn’t just a feature - it’s a way to play with Manchester’s identity, leave your own sonic footprint, and carry the city’s music with you long after the trail ends.
