Manchester Academy

Not just one Academy, but 4 Academies!

Yes, the Academy is actually a collection of four venues based at the Manchester University campus, run by the MU Students' Union. The Academies occupy two buildings, one built in 1957, the other in 1990.

Chuck Berry, Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, Nirvana, Prince... just a few names of artists to have played here.

Used as a venue to perform by countless superstars within the world of live music, Manchester Academy is a top location for non-stadium gigs.

With local, well-established acts performing here as headliners, and emerging local artists offered support slots with touring bands, the Academy is popular within Manchester's creative music scene.

The venues are a place for local bands to cut their live teeth, as well as providing a platform for local sound engineers, lighting directors and road crews a place to hone their skills and better their careers.
