During the 19th Century, All Saints Park housed a church and graveyard surrounded by rows of terraced housing which all fell into disrepair. By the turn of the century, it had become one of Manchester's grim slum areas and was cleared to make way for new buildings and a children's play park. There are still the bodies of at least 5,000 people buried under the park.
Just sayin'.
Whilst you relax in All Saints Park (see above), take a moment to imagine all the music which has passed through in the old Manchester Polytechnic Students Union venues of Cavendish House and the Mandela Building - Bob Marley and the Wailers, The Police, Buzzcocks, U2, Psychic TV, The Fall and Nirvana...
You are just a few minutes walk from one of the world’s most forward-thinking conservatoires, the Royal Northern College of Music, and just a little further on, The Manchester Academy.
